It is very definitely a safety issue there. I drive this daily and there are always close calls because there are so few breaks to get across Adams onto M-59! A "No Turn On Red" sign on Hamlin during peak times would help tremendously!

I take this intersection twice a day. You have to be pro-active. Those who cannot will sit forever. I see little need for additional signals....

Those who cannot will sit forever." is true, that actually supports the need for either a 'No Turn On Red' from eastbound Hamlin to southbound Adams or an actual traffic light for the northbound Adams to westbound M59 entrance ramp turnaround. This turnaround that allows northbound Adams traffic to cut accross southbound Adams traffic to access westbound M59 is one lane. This causes a large backup into northbound Adams traffic (a safety concern) due to many drivers with a weak constitution sit contemplating crossing traffic forever. Much of the southbound Adams traffic is traveling in excess of 50mph, and many vehicles slow in the right lanes to turn onto the westbound M59 entrance ramp. This difference in speeds of approaching traffic causes many drivers to sit for extended periods before being able to proceed. Once poor weathers conditions exist, the problems are compounded. The cheapest and easiest solution is to prevent Hamlin traffic from turning onto southbound Adams when the hamlin light is red. This will give an amble window of time to keep traffic flowing. A simple 'No Turn On Red' sign solves all safety issues.

Recently there is construction on other northbound avenues, so considerably more traffic is using Adams to travel north. This condition (dangerous to turn from NB Adams onto WB M59 and backed-up traffic on NB Adams) has only worsened. Those waiting to turn left accross southbound traffic onto westbound M59 back way up over the M59 bridge and extend into the traffic attempting to exit from eastbound M59. With only a slight amount of inclement weather, the whole area turns into complete gridlock due to no car being able to turn left onto W.B. M59 even after long waits. Somehow more time must be given to allow these vehicles to turn safely. The road commision should view this area between 4:30PM and 5:45PM.

to the truth - your response makes total sense, take a risk and hope it's the right one otherwise you're broadsided. That sounds like an awesome solution to the issue.

With the new "No Turn On Red" sign on Hamlin, this problem has been greatly diminished.
