there are containment measures for soil and debris that erodes at foot level but the debris of demolition is much more dangerous, especially to a young child.

typically, under the aluminum siding there is lead paint on the exterior of houses. below the age of 10 it only takes tens of microns of lead dust inhaled to affect a child. the affect can run from nervous system damage to i.q. lowering and treatment is expensive and long term. ann arbor has a ordinance for lead paint 'removal' but as far as i know from houses being worked on in this neighborhood (total paint strip on 600 block of miller is a good example) the ordinance is not enforced, or is powerless to control demolition jobs. city enforcement of some kind seems a good idea. (dust and debris this close to a child's yard and house) was well tolerated in the fifties prior to general public awareness. we don't want the dumpster without dust barrier and prefer that it be moved further away from the yard, or parked on the street, as it often is with construction jobs.
