Description
At 6:48 AM today, I was commuting to work on my regular route to the ferry. I encountered this new, unforeseen, unmarked, and significant hazard at the entrance to the traffic circle at Madison and Wyatt.
Unfortunately, due to the deep potholes, gaps in the pavement, and exposed manhole, I lost control of my bike and crashed, causing personal injury and damage to my property. I spent the morning in urgent care getting x-rays and a trauma eval.
It appears that at some point in the past few days, a patch of pavement at the entrance of the traffic circle had been removed and replaced with loose pavement, creating a hazardous condition. Notably, there were no warning signs or markings to alert cyclists or motorists to this danger.
Given the severity of the incident and the potential risk it poses to other commuters, I would urge you to take immediate action to acknowledge and address this hazardous road condition. I believe that immediate action is necessary to prevent further injury to Bainbridge Island residents and visitors, and to prevent damage to personal property for all road users.
