Description
I’m not sure which option to select, but this intersection needs a stop light and a bulb out. It’s constant traffic speeding past that does not stop for pedestrians, even when you activate the crossing light and are clearly visible to the driver. There’s a children’s playground in that corner and it’s not safe place for someone of any age to cross. Many intersections on Central have these safety mechanisms, but the crossing closest to the playground, pool and rink do not. In the meantime, I suggest a police officer spend some time observing what happens there. It’s a very dangerous intersection for pedestrians.

Both Summit and Central bordering the park, are being reviewed. This intersection is included.
This is on our intersections to review in 2024. As soon as I get an update, I will post it here.

Palisade ave has Stop signs in Union City in many places and not even near the park. I understand that it's not easy to make these changes but safety and vision zero should be a priority in Jersey City too.

I was going to suggest that some remote mechanism that cuts off the gas in a car when they speed with pedestrians present. My idea is way far fetched, but i think it a lot.
So the gate idea might not be doable, but in this forum you describe the problem and throw up whatever suggestions come to mind, because this is how we build the narrative of what is taking place and the types of solutions that the public wants to implement.
For example: You ask for a gate and maybe there is some kind of visual that acts like a gate and has drivers naturally slow down. So don't be sorry. We are grateful for your input.
