Not to mention the drivers aggressively pulling away from the curb as they leave from Maryjane's Daycare at breakneck speed.

More than once I have pulled into out onto Geary to be surprised by a car barreling west on Geary, pulling ways away from the curb. Also through traffic his hard to see.

I hope this deficiency in construction is addressed, rather than having to depend on insurance claims, or fatalities on the part of the city.

I'm not sure but I believe the final plan is to have bike lanes on both sides and a center turn lane in the middle of Geary. When the project is complete, I think you'll be able to pull farther out to increase your line of site which would alleviate the problem. In the mean time, I agree, it is a very dangerous situation having to blindly pull out onto Geary into traffic that is often not obeying the 25 mph speed limit. If the first few parking spaces were made unavailable, the line of site would be greatly improved.

The other related problem we have is the lack of red paint on the curb in front of Mary Janes on Vessing. Occasionally people park there to drop off their kids. They are actually parking in the street. The Vessing entrance/exit is only wide enough for 2 cars. If a car is exiting Vessing onto Geary and another car comes around the corner entering Vessing with a car parked there, the entering car must veer into the exiting cars lane to avoid the parked car. The line of site issue increases the danger of this because when you're exiting Vessing, you can't see the car entering early enough. I'm guessing if you can't see them, they can't see you either. Mary Janes has put cones out to avoid parking there but the curb needs to get painted because when I politely approached someone parking there, she argued with me that she wasn't doing anything wrong, it wasn't illegal to park there, the police park there and have told her she can (thus the cones).

This is definitely a dangerous issue - I have had the same close calls. Plus, the Mary Jane drop off practices are dangerous for the young kids.

Another issue is the sightline to the west. When you stop at the white line (where you are supposed to) you cannot see the traffic coming from the west. The foliage at that property obstructs the view to the west.

Finally, I believe there should be a crosswalk painted on Geary. Parents walking their children to school from Creston currently have to dash across to Vessing to go to the school path.

The visibility issue entering Geary Rd from Vessing Rd in Pleasant Hill is an accident waiting to happen. Drivers trying to turn left onto Geary Rd. cannot see oncoming traffic ( usually traveling much faster than the 25 mph limit) when parents are dropping off or picking up kids at Mary Janes. Drivers from Vessing Rd. must inch out into the traffic lane to see around the line of SUVs parked along Geary Rd.
Drivers vision is also obstructed by low hanging tree branches or shrubs while trying to turn right from Vessing onto Geary. I hope Pleasant Hill will address these issues before the Geary Rd improvement project is finalized.

I have not heard from the city if anything is being done about this issue. I noticed that cones have been placed in the first parking space but I am looking for a plan for a permanent fix. Is anyone out there other than neighbors who agree with me?

Here is what I can see when I pull into the crosswalk.

The dent in the sidewalk needs to be filled in so it is impossible for cars to park where the Vessing drivers are blocked. The current red curb painting is not enough of a fix to make it safe to exit my neighborhood.

This is a major issue, its IMPOSSIBLE to see cars driving down Geary with cars parked on Geary, outside of the Mary Jane preschool. People driving on Geary are driving about 35-40mph, imagine the impact of being hit at that speed.
This blind spot makes it dangerous to turn onto Geary, from Vessing and it needs to be reviewed/reconsidered.

Speeds of oncoming cars are often over 40mph when the traffic allows. This is an accident waiting to happen.

The City has to be held accountable for allowing this design flaw. The city will ignore it and (us) until a accident happens.

A cross walk and flashing light for crossing Geary for families going to the swim club or PHE is a must! It might slow down the cut through 680 speeders if they have to stop for a cross walk.
My kids all wet to Mary Janes, they are great neighbors. They do the best they can within the law. It's the rush of life that makes parents park on the corner or in the first court. Maybe no parking signs on the street during pick up and drop off times!

Every night/ morning 4 am ish a car with big exhaust pipes is going 80 miles an hour- I had an old speed report ( when the city really did a good jobs helping) there was a car clocked at 83 mph. It's an ongoing issue!
The school traffic and speeders are a huge issue!
This street is narrow and has Blind spots. The city traffic engineer suggested parking all cars on the street back then to slow down the flow.

They put up 25 MPH signs.
None of this has helped, in fact it's worse. Any ideas?
