Description

There is garbage all over the State property and homeless people are living in tents here in the warm months.
DOT needs to clean this up.

New Haven department of public works states that all of the trash removed from State Street added up to 6000 lbs at the transfer station...6000lbs of garbage in 4 hours by a little over 20 people. Not bad.

Alas, the trash is back - less than 2 months since we cleaned it all up. Can we get the fence fixed, or at least have a garbage can installed nearby?

Also Maybe we could have the brush trimmed back.

I think we should close this issue till early next year as its tough to get to or see the garbage when the foliage is in season.

I sent a letter to the DOT back in late August and received a letter back on September 23rd articulating their desire to be good stewards of the property and that they cleaned up the area in mid-September. They provided a direct contact person - Mr. Joseph Czarnecki, Transportation Maintenence Director, 203-389-3020.
