There has been a lot of work in this area and I will see whether this came before our engineers and planners already.

I just want to warn you that making a road one way can have the reverse affect of speeding up traffic. Narrow roads slow vehicles down and right now the complaint of the stretch of Baldwin between Rt 139 to Newark Ave is speeding. This comes from the residents. I say this just to keep this in mind. Many times people don't understand the affects of a change like this.

I will bring this to the engineers and they can work on seeing if this is a good option and if it is, then they can create the legislation. Traffic impact studies take a long time. So until one is able to be conducted, we will look at other measures, either temporary or permanent, to implement.

This would create traffic elsewhere. It would be creating a bottleneck traffic. As it is, it's difficult to get around in JSQ.

1) Pedestrian Safety

Request is being made to create/improve:

1. Increase pedestrian safety
2. Add parking spaces
3. Create a bicycle lane for multimodal travel
3. Potential for wider sidewalks
4. Reduce noise and air pollution

Did i get this correct?

How will noise and air pollution be reduced? The engineers and planners will know this, but it would be great to share here for anyone in the community reading this.

In addition to what I said about the bottleneck traffic elsewhere, I would like to add that since the city is becoming densely populated, people need to get around from different sections of the city. This would impact buses as well since there would be traffic in other streets because of this change. As it is now, road closures are very common already.

The impact of the surrounding area is always considered. All ideas, requests, and suggestions are given a review when it is coming from anyone in the community.

If this turns out to be the way the community wants to go and it is possible, there would be meetings with the community and the council person for the area.

A one-way Baldwin would make this street so much safer. Following!

I would like to hear what the residents to the east of Baldwin have to say about making Baldwin one way. Looking at the map, it would be difficult for vehicles (emergency, school bus, ride share, etc) to enter/exit that area if Baldwin was made one way in conjunction with the continued impact of Summit due to construction. Plus some of those side streets that connect Baldwin to Summit are one way.

This request for Baldwin and Summit being made a one way has a long history, without enough support to justify a study. The majority of community members and council people, would need to support this for us toto go through the expense and take away time from other projects..
