I'm so glad that we are able to report how BAD Oakport street is. This is a EXTREMELY busy street with lots of traffic from cars and big trucks. The pot holes are big enough now to do lots of damage to your car. It has been put off for way too long now. PLEASE! make Oakport Street a priority for pot hole repair.

I agree I do believe that is why I have to have a wheel alignment done on my car because I drive everyday on potholes

to whom it may concern: please repair all the potholes in the whole Oakport Street, Oakland and level all the bumpy roads... Commuters has been suffering all these years...The roads are not safe especially when it's raining and that you can't see the potholes...

There are some that are very deep! I fear suspension damage to my car when driving down Oakport Street.

The potholes on Oakport Street have become more and more of a danger to the commuters that drive on the street daily. Because the potholes are so bad (some way more worse than others), drivers often have to swerve away from them in order to somewhat salvage their vehicle's suspension system.

Currently, the overall paving of Oakport Street is subpar so potholes aren't the only issue. At best, it would be GREAT if the asphalt on the whole street could be resurfaced.

I thought Edgewater was bad, so I started to use Oakport to get to work, I'm not sure which is worse.

While I'm driving I steer thinking I know where to avoid a pothole but I end-up hitting another and it's dangerous.

Please repair this soon.

I have been saying to my commuter partner for the last several years how bad this road is but figured
it would be fixed by now, so far no such luck. I now need to dirve down the middle of the road to avoid
the string of potholes.

Please consider this a priority repair as this has been needed for years now!

I work next door to the Coliseum Lexus and would like to see this street get fixed. It serves many of the businesses between 66th and Hegenberger on the bayside. By fixing this street you would raise the vehicle safety and curb appeal for people using the Coliseum/Oracle/Airport/and Coliseum Lexus, etc.

Right now PG&E is doing a project on the street and they have had to open a large hole. This has made the street even worse.

Let's make t his street a priority for fixing ASAP!

Oakport St. is getting pretty bad. Most of the time I have to drive down the center to dodge the holes. Could be a test site for testing road handling for Lexus.

The response from PWA call center " After consulting with the Capital Improvement Department, Oakport St will be placed on the repavement list and will be serviced next year", REALLY, next year! How long has Cranbrook been asking to fix the road, this is not the first time requesting to be put on the repair list. I don't know about the rest of you good folks but by next year the road should be red tagged as unusable and condemned. At this point I think a gravel road would be safer!

Only a portion of the street has been repaired, is the City of Oakland going to come back and complete repairs on the remaining area (from the Oakland Tribune building at 7677 Oakport down to the Toyota dealership at the corner of Oakport and Edgewater)?

The city fixed some of the pavement up by the Lexus Dealership. It was a great place to test drive a Lexus to test it's suspension and road handling on those crap roads.

Although I am very grateful that Oakland listened to our rants on this thread and came to repair Oakport Street, I would like to second Tiffani's inquiry below. Is the City of Oakland going to finish what they started?

I did notice that the repaired section of Oakport Street is an improvement from before but (not to sound ungrateful) it seems it wasn't done with the best workmanship. Some time after the City of Oakland came to fix the portion of Oakport Street, they went and repaired the entirety of Coliseum Way just across the 880 freeway (granted, it is much shorter in distance than Oakport). Coliseum Way drives extremely smoothly - definitely not the case with the repaired area of Oakport Street. It would seem that the City is definitely capable of paving dream-worthy streets but picks and chooses which streets they are.

I would have to agree with you Priscilla. I've driven on the repaired area near the Lexus Dealership on Oakport St.. It looks so deceiving until you drive on it. It's not very level nor smooth. It has a waviness which you feel in the steering wheel. As for the southbound Oakport St. it's still filled with rough pavement and potholes. On Edgewater Dr. south of Hassier Way is a carbon copy of the conditions of Oakport St. A month or so ago a crew did some pavement repair northbound on Edgewater Dr. near the Walmart Shopping Center. Then crews came back and filled a few potholes near Oikos University. Then they stopped, period. You would figure if you had the equipment there that you would complete the street(s).

I also want to agree with Priscilla on the substandard repair work on Oakport. When I saw that the work crew had left I assumed that this was a temporary repair and that they will come back later to put the finishing touches on when they return to complete the rest of the road. Could you please confirm if my assumption is correct?

Also, it would be great if the PWA call center was more responsive to the inquiries at this site and in particular to Tiffiani Espinoza request for a follow up.

The City of Oakland has slowly been repairing the requests I've put in over the months. It's a slow process. Edgewater Dr. is a really bad street too. And that's a block over.

Thank you! to whom it may concern for fixing Oakport Street, but the other half and the entire street of Edgewater Drive also is in badly need of repair.

Yes I agree, It does not make sense to do part of a street, The other streets mentioned should be repaired as well. They are use constantly by big rigs and cars, therefore potholes accumulate. I am always dodging potholes. This definitely needs to be a priority.

Now that PG & E has be completing work on Oakport Street for the pipeline upgrades, I believe that now would be a perfect time for the City to come in and repair the road, to make it smoother and be able to correct alot of the issues. More and more vehicles are driving on this road, as well as, Hassler Street and it does nothing but make the potholes worse. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Edgewater Dr. is crappy too. Good test grounds for auto mfg's. The ruts really jar your teeth.
