Description
There are illegally parked commercial vehicles on private property at 32 W Sellers behind the Parker Apartments. During the daytime I pass there and see more trucks and cars then should be allowed on a residential property in the historic district. How about some proper enforcement of Ridley Park's zoning codes and stop the parking there.

@NoLegs - there's been a lot of writing and explanations about the illegal vehicle parking on Ridley Park's social network and answering your question if the same people in Ridley PArk are asking; "why are there vehicles parked there?" I spoke twice to the Borough's Zoning enforcement officer this week and it appears the Borough's Highway Departments first "No Parking" sign was blown down by the windy conditions on Monday. Today two heavy duty metal street signs with No Parking This Side" were erected, presumably, again, by the Borough in the ongoing attempt to keep people from parking their commercial vehicles and cars there during the day.
The story has some long legs, (no disrespect, just a pun) and goes back several owners to when the property was converted from R3 (three homes) to R1 (single family home) by an owner who wanted his family from Europe to come to Ridley Park and live there. When it didn't work that his family was going to join him and help him restore the house, he sold the home to the owner who nearly died in the 2007 fire that destroyed the property. That home owner had insured the property for the purchase cost, and not the replacement cost, and the end result was the home was demolished and the Land was sold to Mr A. Mr. A was a builder who wanted to build a home there. Instead Mr A was approached by an outside investment company who offered to buy the piece of land "if" the property could be granted a zoning variance so the out of towners could build a parking lot.
After RP's Zoning board denied the investors a parking lot with a unanimous 5/0 vote, Mr A. died. The current owners are the beneficiaries of the estate of Mr. A. To settle the estate, Mrs Lisa. A, the wife and beneficiary to Mr A, attempted to sell the property to Mr. Richard N. who's know as a local builder of fine quality homes. Mr Richard N will tell you, like he told Borough Council at March's Special Public Saturday meeting about the topic, his intention was to build a Victorian house on the site at 32 West Sellers. However, when the proceedings past their agreement of sale, Mr Richard N. learned that the out of town Investors were still sinking money into their appear at the Court of Common Please in Media. Instead of proceeding with the sale and waiting for the outcome of the Judge in Media, Mr Richard N. backed out of the agreement, loosing his $5K in expenses and attorney fees.
The estate was then settled, the court of common pleas found no merit with any assertions that the Zoning Board was wrong, and the property was once again up for sale. Now, another young builder has stepped forward and signed another agreement of sale with the "now owners" of the estate, Mrs Lisa A. As I understand, she is the living next of kin to Mr A. I've been told they have entered into an agreement of sale so the new young builder can build a single family home.
The tragedy here is now the out-of-town Investors are suing the Borough for upholding Ridley Park's Zoning Boards 5 to 0 decision. They claim the Borough has abused its power and that the Zoning Board has abused their power by denying them their right to build a parking lot in a location where a home once stood in Ridley Park's Historic District.
At the zoning board hearing the Investors architect showed how the legal footprint of a home would and could set on that piece of property. The legal footprint of a home on that spot will also not need a variance change since the land is already zoned Residential, specifically R1.
Hope this answers your question and gives you the background. If anyone has more details they can offer, or they can be more specific or more accurate I would appreciate those comments.
