The merge from S. Walter Reed Drive to Washington Blvd heading towards DC is terrible. I've complained about it before. There's a wreck here probably monthly. I was hit from behind this week by a car that was looking back at oncoming traffic and didn't see I wasn't out of her way yet. Please add a light or something. Traffic from Washington Blvd and Arlington Blvd merge at this same point all doing 50+ MPH and it is a total mess.

What needs to happen is to close the exit so only vehicles coming from US 50 or that ugly intersection to the south (not sure what exact street names) can only enter Washington Blvd. southbound. The major problem is that those wanting to exit here to get to 2nd St. S or the relocated Arlington Human Resources Dept. are slowing right in front of those accelerating and looking for an opening in the traffic behind them. If drivers only need to be concerned with entering that should smooth the flow and reduce the hazards. Perhaps separate and extend the acceleration lanes for each entrance.
So how do people exit? Open a new exit ramp 1,500 feet to the south. This would require acquisition half of the parking lot at the Naval Support Facility. The ramp connects with S. Courthouse Rd. where drivers can go north to connect with Ft. Myer's Hatfield Gate or the Arlington Office Building.
