This is not correct. The lines were changed years ago when the issue of stormwater rights came into play. The wall is on City property, therefore it falls under the repair funding for taxpayers.
The wall is owned and maintained by Elizabeth Lakes. It is not the cities responsibility to fix. Just because there are utility easements along the wall does not make it city property or right of way.
I'm sorry but I hate to see my tax dollars used to fix private property because the residents don't take enough pride in their neighborhood to fix a problem. If the neighborhood built it why should the city maintain it????
The law states "Fortwith, any and all masonary dividers, but not limited to brick, cast, or formed, shall be made safe by the responsability of the local government" Just leave this open until it is repaired please.
Taylor I am pretty sure that only pertains to public sidewalks and traffic barriers not a wall that a subdivision put up for aesthetics. Again people need to take pride in their communities, organize a clean up day to pick up the trash from your neighborhood or next time your walking your dog and see a hand full of cigarette butts pick them up and throw him away with his poo bag. The city should not be expected to spend frivolous money on a brick wall they did not install because the neighborhood that built it can't be bothered to maintain it.
How is that left wing. The neighborhood I live in is responsible for its own repairs to all walls and fences that we have placed in and outside of the community the city does not repair anything we have installed. As for taking pride in your community and helping pick up the trash see my below quote. If more people would actually care and do it then the city would not need to waste money during a fiscal crunch on cleaning up after careless people.
The Old Man and the Starfish by Irv Furman
There was a young man walking down a deserted beach just before dawn. In the distance he saw a frail old man. As he approached the old man, he saw him picking up stranded starfish and throwing them back into the sea.
The young man gazed in wonder as the old man again and again threw the small starfish from the sand to the water. He asked, "Old man, why do you spend so much energy doing what seems to be a waste of time?"
The old man explained that the stranded starfish would die if left in the morning sun. " But there must be thousands of beached and millions of starfish!" exclaimed the young man. "How can you make any difference?"
The old man looked down at the small starfish in his hand and as he threw it into the safety of the sea, he said, "I made a difference to this one."
I don't know why everyone is adverse to reporting issues to the city directly through already established resources

Cut paste cut paste blah blah blah. i am alpha i am not alpha i am 311 i am not 311 i am remember to close i am not remember to close. I am city rsd i am not city rsd. I have points i dont have points. Sounds like allfart to me. When the issue has been repaired, the blog can be closed.
Issue should be corrected before the blog is closed. Keep this open as the city moniters this site and responds to these postings. Please only close if you are the orginial poster.
I noticed that the wall across the street of the Gosnold park also has some issues. The grass was getting out of hand in the front of the park too! It was almost as tall as my two walking mates. I will have to talk to my hero once again.
Over on the right side of the page just above the map there is a link that says "where did this report go?" if you click it the City of Hampton is NOT listed as a watcher anymore. Hampton removed them selves from the monitoring of this site a year ago. You can yell and spout off all you want on this "free blog" but its just that the city no longer monitors due to wasted man power from inadequate information provided. If you want to see good done in your city then pick up a phone or take 2 min to email the city departments directly for resolution of the issues.

Plese tell me why you think that the city is not monitering this site? I have first han information to the contrary. Plese stop all the banter and let the site work as intended.
I walked down this road today and counted over 15 cracks in the wall, and missing bricks. The city needs to send the brick crew out here and repair this before it falls down and hurts someone.
