Description
Update: 6/12/17 - The response to this issue was that it would be remedied with the Peeler / North Peachtree paving project. The temporary lines are now gone and it appears to be one land (no left turn lane, no right turn lane). This is creating more problems for traffic.
Original:
This intersection is in desperate need of a redesign. Notice in the photo the "need" to cross the double yellow line in order to reach the left turn lane. Drivers do this because the cars turning right often go nowhere for multiple traffic light cycles due to backups on Tilly Mill Road. There's no good reason that cars turning left should not be able to turn left since it is usually free and clear. I suggest cutting into the Church's property in order to widen the area and create longer left and right turn lanes, divided by a raised curb of some kind. The raised curb is important, because often cars turning right straddle both lanes, which further narrows the left turn lane.

The Tilly Mill Rd at N. Peachtree Rd intersection improvement project will indirectly provide relief to the congestion on Tilly Mill Road at Peeler Road.
The changes that you are requesting at this intersection are extensive enough that this project would first need to be programmed on the city’s long term plan, especially since it would entail right of way acquisition. There is currently no plan for an improvement at this intersection in the city’s Comprehensive Transportation Plan, which defines and prioritizes such capital improvement projects. This document is due for an update next year. Your comments are noted, but you are strongly encouraged to participate in the public involvement process that will shape the updated CTP document and determine how projects will be prioritized and ultimately funded. Thank you.
