I looked at the ditch where the mangrove tree is this week. There are now shoots coming up almost to 40th Ave. NE. The roots and debris cause a damming effect near the original tree so that the water flow is partially obstructed. The water is quite still above the dam and could be a breeding ground for mosquitoes. There was trimming done recently, which removed the tops of some sprouts. This does not fix the issue, and may worsen it. The drain opening from 39th Ave. NE is obstructed by mangrove growth, which was also trimmed, but not removed. The banks of the ditch are becoming unstable and are beginning to crumble into the ditch. The ditch needs to be completely cleaned of mangrove trees and shoots, and redug,

Forgot to mention that the ditch has trash like drink lids that may have been blown in. There's a rubber glove in there, too. I sat on the sea wall at the south end of the ditch where it drains into the Bay, and there's something in the water that looks like a metal guywire sheath. Foamy green alga is in the ditch.
