This problem occurs at least once a month. The owner moves bees off and on the property routinely skirting around the bee keeper hobby limits. He brings hives onto the property that are Africanized colonies we think because of their highly aggressive behavior! I have been stung 20+ times in the last couple of years. The hives are not being kept well, also a reason they become agitated. There must be dozens and dozens of complaints going back several years on this issue and now that he has hive(s) in alley side of property, businesses will be adversely affected.The owner seems nonplussed by peoples' complaints. Something has to be done about this that is permanent because this reoccurs over and over again. We can organize a neighborhood petition if that's what it takes, poorly kept bees vs. residential and business community.

This is also a major liability issue for the City considering that if just one person gets stung and goes into shock or dies, the City of St. Pete will potentially face a costly lawsuit given the lengthy track record of warnings and complaints about these bees.

The property owner is a registered, licensed bee keeper with the state of Florida. All hives are maintained in accordance with the law. His bees are inspected regularily and he is always in full compliance. He is well with in the law to keep bees on his property. Any property owner has the right to keep bees if they are registered with the state.

Why isn't the City addressing this issue??
