I have not been seeing any filling of potholes lately. Frankly I have given up on reporting these after years of trying and seeing multiple other people report them over and over again. I live near here and the buses and trucks and ambulances going over the pot holes shake my house so much that I think we are having earthquakes all the time.

A large truck hitting a pothole just right can enlarge a crack in my wall or send me to the earthquake website to report feeling something for the shakemap. Every day there are more hubcaps or pieces of vehicle on the road or in the gutter.

If you subscribe to the broken window theory, this area shows that the city doesn't care, so nobody else should. People toss trash out the window because they see car parts strewn about, a road full of rubble, and urban neglect.

On the bright side, the noise from the night time construction on the highway slightly covers the sound of the trucks and buses jarring through the holes on Chatham, and the smooth new road on 580 makes it that much easier to tell how much my alignment is off.

I have always looked on the positive side in the past, but I'm so tired of this street being ignored.

Dear City of Oakland,
I checked your five year plan and this stretch of road isn't on it, but amazingly the better paved road from the richer neighborhoods way onto the freeway is. This is a huge issue and should not be brushed off.
