I have tried to get the City to put in a 4 way stop or traffic light and they say the traffic study does not support the criteria for either. Please have others voice their dissatisfaction to City Council and Traffic Engineering.

The traffic is particularly bad around 9 a.m. and 3:40 p.m., when Riverside Elementary opens/dismisses.

The Department of Engineering has reviewed the intersection of Show Lane and Moores Lane for a multi-way stop twice with the past year once with CNU in season and once with them on their summer break. Neither time did they meet the warrants for a multi-way stop. Primarily, the traffic volumes on the side street are not approaching the level of the volumes on the main line.

2009 – 0 (of those crash reports that have been received through July)

Volumes:
WB Moores La – 3,122 VPD
EB Moores La – 2,906 VPD
NB Shoe La – 487 VPD
SB Shoe La – 3,045

It is anticipated that the spike in 2007 crashes and the increase in SB traffic are directly related to the construction work on Warwick Blvd. and this segment of roadway handling a temporary increase in traffic. We have also taken corrective action to eliminate a sight distance restriction to enhance visibility as well as install a Stop Ahead sign at as a result of a previous 2006 study.

Upon review of the Federal Manual Uniform of Traffic Control Devices, none of the warrants for the installation of a Multi-Way or a Traffic Signal were satisfied for this intersection, as a result of this study it is concluded that, no further action is to be taken for this location at this time. The Department of Engineering will keep monitoring this location.

between 5-6PM, eastbound on Moore Lane is usually stopped back to about the lacrosse/soccer field at CNU - about a 10-15 minute wait. It's interesting - per their study, the traffic on Shoe Lane is much less than Moores Lane. I wonder if perhaps Moores Lane should have the right-of-way at the 2 way stop while Shoe Lane has the Stop signs? Makes more sense to me...

If you place a 4 way stop, ever occur how the traffic will back up on Shoe Lane, b/c very few people around here know HOW to use a 4 way stop, you people allowed Trible to take over your neighborhood so deal with it, you think just b/c you want something, the City has to jump at your every wish, stop wasting my tax money, N. Moores La should be closed to thru traffic anyways, make it into a pedestrian walk or something.

It is not that I EXPECT the City to do everything, however since the City allowed CNU to expand in the manner it did that has caused all sorts of traffic issues, not to mention the 13 stop lights in 2.7 miles on the "new and improved"Warwick Blvd. This causes increased thoroughfare traffic throughout all of the neighborhoods that parallel Warwick.

The City did not allow CNU's expansion. CNU is considered a state agency and has no jurisdiction over the state. They have the right to do what they want on their property without the City's permission.

I disagree. We don't want the city to start puttung lights in the middle of neighborhoods. If they ever finish Warwick, that alone will relieve this chokepoint. Right now, Hidenwood and Riverside residents are forced to use Moores Lane to avoid flat tires.

nobody's talking about traffic lights - just a 4-way stop, via stop signs, would do the trick.

This would be a colossal mistake and a waste of taxpayer money. While traffic may be a challenge to some during the day, it is not a problem all of the time. How many traffic accidents have been reported at this intersection? Putting in a four way stop will lead to more accidents. If you go down the road a short ways to the intersection of Shoe and Country Club, watch the difficulties some have at the four way stop - especially those coming out of the Country Club. You will see text book examples of indecision. Take that same mentality and combine it with students rushing to class and you will have problems. There are alternatives to going straight across Shue on Moore's Lane. Take a short detour so you come up or down Shue and turn left or right on to Moore. That would ease the problem of crossing Shue. Maybe if the city spends the money to issue a study, they will decide that only right turns will be allowed from Moores Lane. That would solve the problem but probably not in a way most would want. But that is a possibility when you ask government to fix your problem.

The city's study proves what another has already commented...Moores Lane has more total vehicles per day than Shoe...this to me is a big RED FLAG...but it's just the normal rigmarole with any form of Government...it seems clear to the citizens that their way is skewed/flawed or just plan wrong and when we voice these concerns some statistics are used to thwart any attempt. Total Volume Shoe= 3,532 VPD; Total Volume Moores= 6,028 VPD. This is clearly almost double the volume of vehicles traveling from the Hidenwood area (which is another area of congestion) to and from the Riverside (vice versa) area compared to those coming to and from CNU/Warwick to Shoe and vice versa.

Thank you for pointing this out. There was a error in the previous post by my staff. The direction of travel and associated volumes are correct but the street names were reversed. I have personally reviewed the traffic counts and they should have been posted as:
