Description
I am concerned that a regular group of homeless are taking over the small Coffee Pot Park during the day sleeping around the only tables provided around the playground keeping families with small children somewhat intimidated.

Update from the Office of Veteran, Social & Homeless Services: issues related to the homeless in our city may be reported to our office - contact information may be found on this page of the StPete.org website:
http://www.stpete.org/community/homelessness/
We work closely with various City departments and local social service providers to address issues faced by our homeless population, and we also work with neighborhood associations to address the concerns they have, as well. Our Police Department has a Street Outreach Team that actively canvasses areas where the activities of the homeless are noticed, and they will continue doing so to ensure the safety of all citizens. Please immediately report any criminal activity or safety concerns to the SPPD directly by calling 727-893-7780 if not an emergency, or 911 if an emergency. Thank you.

In response to this SeeClickFix, The St. Petersburg Street Outreach Team, comprised of a police officer and a social worker, visited Coffee Pot Park twice on April 19, 2016. On the first visit there we no patrons in the park. They returned an hour later and found a man sitting at a bench in the park. They spoke with him to offer their help. He told them he is currently homeless but has been approved for a Section 8 Housing Voucher and will be moving into his own apartment in 3 days. They offered to take him to a shelter but he told them he planning on staying in a motel for the next 3 nights until he is able to move in to his apartment. The Street Outreach Team will continue to visit the park on a regular basis to offer their help to anyone who is homeless and in need of housing/shelter or other services. In addition, the community police officers assigned to this area will make regular patrol visits to the park to offer their help to anyone in need of assistance.
