Description
Somebody has painted all over the road at 39th St. and 40th Avenue. They cut down four perfectly good and flowing lanes to two. I thought they were bicycle lanes, but must be wrong because I never see any bicycles in the new painted areas. It has absolutely destroyed the flow of traffic at rush times. Cars idle for long periods of time waiting to get through the lights. I am really concerned about the impact this is having on the environment. The graffiti on the road needs t be removed. I see the City did a good job of getting rid of that vandalism on 55th street. I don't know who the criminal is going around and destroying our roads and traffic systems bu they need to be stopped.

We would like to thank everyone for engaging in discussion around the Commuter Bike Pilot Program. While we encourage discussion, SeeClickFix is a tool that will help residents report infrastructure issues or bylaw infractions like graffiti to The City of Red Deer.
This is a pilot project, and The City will be reporting back to Council in 2013. We have taken the feedback from the community, and are working on how to best resolve some of the concerns residents residents have raised. We'll have more information by the spring of this year.

In response to the City of Red Deer's above comments....Roads are infracture aren't they?.....Bike lanes, snow on bike lanes, confusion with lanes as a result of snow on bike lanes are relevant here......But the city is telling its citizens to basically shut up about these issues.....Why?..........Is this SEE CLICK FIX website, posting issues, and comments just those accordingly to the CITY OF RED DEER?....Why would the city of red deer want to discourage citizen participation and activism? .........It is the city's job to decide what citizens should and should not comment about and have issues with? .............If you think so, then how democratic and free is our community when government wants to think for us..... What kind of society, community, city are we living in? What happened to freedom of expression and freedom of speech in a free and democratic society and the right to have an opinion and voice it even to the point of activism, Definition of activism is...........The policy or action of using vigorous campaigning to bring about political or social change.
What is the purpose of SEE CLICK FIX? .........Wikipedia says SeeClickFix is a web tool that allows citizens to report non-emergency neighborhood issues, which are communicated to local government, as a form of community activism…..The tool centers around a web-based map that displays all user comments. All users may add comments, suggest resolutions, or add video and picture documentation. Anyone can elect to receive email alerts based on "Watch Areas" by geographical area and filtering reports by keyword…….The site aims not only to hold government accountable, but to facilitate community volunteering. Co-founder Ben Berkowitz has stated, "We hope to get citizens participating in government rather than just consuming it."

This is a TYPICAL CITY/GOVERNMENT RESPONSE WAITING and ALLOWING NATURE to RESOLVE the PROBLEM of NO SNOW REMOVAL ON THE BIKE LANES, BECAUSE THE CITY IS TOO BUSINESS ANSWERING COMPLAINT CALLS ABOUT THE PROBLEM and I quote:
"The City will be reporting back to Council in 2013.....We'll have more information by the spring of this year."
WELL ISN'T THAT QUITE CONVENIENT! BECAUSE BY SPRING ALL THE SNOW WOULD HAVE MELTED ON THE BIKE LANES! This is how the city resolves problems?
