The traffic light at the corner of Brook and Bellview has stopped functioning normally as the camera/software sensor and has reverted to a timer. Traffic is needlessly stopped regularly on Brook road (north and south) for non-existent traffic on Bellview. When the traffic is stopped on Brook, we have to wait an excessively long time. If there is only 1 or 2 cars on Bellview a long time will pass while we are still waiting at an empty intersection.

So there are 2 problems here. Timer control and long waits for no cars.

Additionally, the crossing buttons no longer work, so the crossing timers are activated with each signal change, even though no one is there. This extends the red times at each sequence as the timers have to count down before the light can change.

We walk this area almost every day - and we are thrilled with the change. In the past, even if we pushed the walk button to cross, the cross light lasted a few seconds - not nearly enough time to get across, particularly on the days we have our grandchildren. I vote to leave it like it is!!

So why have the buttons on the poles if they are non-functioning? While I agree with concerned neighbor that it's great to be able to walk across the intersection in a timely manner, it would make sense to cut out the pedestrian signal delay when no pedestrians are there. This new $20 million traffic signal control system is most unimpressive.

I've noticed various timing issues in this area- green arrows with no waiting cars, long red lights with waiting cars, etc.

Sunday on Bellevue at Brook, the light was green with no Bellevue traffic and waiting cars on Brook - long enough for me to ride my bike through green while I rode at 10mph- when it turned green I was well west of Lamont. That is a very long light for no traffic while others are waiting.
