I can tell you who at least one of the culprits is. We were driving down Foothill at 8:15 p.m. Saturday night and observed three men (two of them in restaurant aprons) crossing the street from the Oriental Tea House with a vehicle bench, and dumping it into the pile that is...directly across from the back of the Tea House. (Gee, I wonder where the rest of the junk came from?) We actually stopped to express our dismay, and one of the men simply denied they'd done anything wrong. I immediately called the Oakland police non-emergency number, but it was clear that the dispatcher was not going to roll a unit to call out the restaurant owners. (Now I see I should have called San Leandro P.D.) Dumping and blight should not be tolerated. When someone is caught red-handed they should be prosecuted. A $10,000 fine would not be too much. I do also plan to report this on both Yelp and Next Door. I do not know whether this frontage road is the responsibility of Oakland, San Leandro, or CalTrans, or some combination thereof, but it is unsightly, depressing and needs some attention from policymakers. Whether adding a curb or actually doing some beautification such as San Leandro did along Foothill between Dutton and Estudillo, someone needs to give some attention to this area that people see when they leave the zoo and Dunsmuir House.

Still not addressed. Garbage is dumped this area almost daily. Two abandoned vehicles have been parked on the shoulder for over two months (and reported) with no action by city.

What does it take to get sone action on this?

Be sure to take a picture next time as proof and yes since it was the Oriental Tea House Restaurant, San Leandro and Oakland is where to call about them dumping in Oakland.
