The track is still used, at least the Tyler portion @ Loop 323 is and there is no where else to go but Whitehouse. Trains still travel it, albeit infrequently.
Its a State Law for buses to stop, but the City can apply for an exemption and place a sign saying something to the effect Tracks Out of Service (if indeed they are)
Track is unused from Shiloh Rd area down to Troup. There are fallen trees over tracks and extremely high brush covering the right-of-way. There is no way that any train can travel from Tyler to Whitehouse and Troup on this track. Stop sign at Acker Tap is still active and being run all the time by drivers and delaying traffic flow. Railroad crossings arms at 300 block of East Main St. in Whitehouse are a waste of thousands of dollars and impede trafiic flow and turning into the fire station and on to Railroad St. Rear end crashes have occured here because of the obstructions. Turn this track into a rails-to-trails project or regular streets to fix the problem. There is also a serious fire mitigation issue with all the fallen trees and brush along the tracks and now has become a large varmint habitate. If there is ever a wildland/grass/woods fire (and there has been) in the railroad right-of -way, it will be impossible to fight the fire and will put the residents and their property in very serious danger. Thanks, Brad Burger
Train travel is not my preferred mode of transportation; I lean towards flying and utilizing a dependable airport transfer service. Opting for AtoB Keflavik Airport Taxi https://atobtransfer.com/iceland/keflavik-airport-taxi/ transforms the travel experience into a delight. The online booking system operates efficiently, and the drivers consistently go the extra mile to guarantee a seamless and enjoyable ride.
