Due to the poor timing of this light I use 58th street instead of Lyndale/121. This creates a lot of traffic on 58th and around Kenny School. It also causes drivers on 121 to run yellow/red lights to avoid a 3 minute wait for the next green.

It's been this way since they finished construction and put in the new lights along Lyndale. It needs to be looked at.

This would be a perfect intersection for a traffic circle. Lots of space, and continual traffic flow. Traffic signals such as these are becoming obsolete.

I agree with others. The timing on this light is still very off. The intervals are far too long with green lights in one direction but no traffic moving

I still have my fingers crossed for the removal of the highway spur between 58th and 56th (which was the neighborhood's plan for years). This would allow Lyndale to be reconnected in both directions. It is a bit ridiculous that it would be a continuous two-way road from Lowry Park all the way to the Minnesota River, but is interrupted so that a tiny number of cars have more convenient access to 35W.

The east west traffic gets far too much green light. It is common for there to be no east west cars while a queue of southbound cars waits for two mjnutes or more.

Give it a rest. You have 1 southbound lane becoming 4 (left, right and 2 south). Likewise you have 2 northbound becoming 4 (left, right, 2 north). If you are in such a hurry (might you be a diamond lane cut to 62 west from 35W??), get out a shovel and dig a tunnel under the situation. This intersection has far more issues than your 30 seconds of life.

What note?

I saw no note either. How can this issue possibly be considered closed? It is the worst case of bad semaphore timing anywhere between Portland, Oregon and Portland, Maine.

This should be such an easy problem to fix! North/south has much greater traffic flow than east/west. South/east arrow should be green together. North/south can be green together for a brief time. West arrow does not get much traffic. East/west needs short green with long yellow or middle light timed appropriatetly. It actually works better when the lights are all flashing red than when the lights are working!

That comment by Lisa is quite apt. North South traffic needs more green. East West needs far less green. The westbound arrow traffic also receives way more time than it needs.
