The timing sequence appears to have been altered - incorrectly, unless - it was changed to take into account the large degree of truck traffic in and around Leland Street by St Mary's Church - that might be trying to access or depart from the GURR facility.....

Coming home to Grafton today I was stopped by traffic at the Rt 30/ Rt 140 intersection before the cemetary at 16:36. I made it through the light at 16:46--10 minutes is a long time for one traffic signal. Only 6-7 cars get through now on a green light. It was better before the timing was adjusted

Monday night, I was driving through this intersection on 30. I was the first car stopped before the train tracks, with no one on the other side. The light turned green, and was then back to yellow before I was across the second stop line.

The signal is timed correctly. Allow us to explain.
The signal is on a 100 second cycle for the three intersections. Route 140 gets 60 seconds, Route 30 gets 25 seconds and East Street gets 15 seconds. If a car on Route 30 takes more than 2 seconds to trip the loop at the intersection, it assumes that there is no more traffic and the signal goes to red, giving whatever remaining time to Route 140. People who are waiting at the light on Route 30 tend to look at their phones and not pay attention to the signal. As a result, they delay in pulling forward and the signal thinks there are no more cars in the queue.
The issue is not in the timing, it is with people being distracted and not paying attention. Unfortunately we cannot time the signal to accommodate for distracted drivers.

This does not account for all traffic stopped behind the railroad tracks, and no traffic between the tracks and the second light. There should be a few more seconds on that timer to cover that case, which is what I experienced.

The Town of Grafton is JUST A PUPPET IN THIS HIGHLY POLITICAL ISSUE - IN MY OPINION, WHATEVER GURR WANTS - SOMEHOW, GURR GETS - EVEN IF IT IS AT THE EXPENSE OF THE TAXPAYER.....OH, IN SOOOOO MANY WAYS!!!!!

I came through this intersection up Route 30 late this afternoon and I timed the lights. Route 140 had the green for over 80 seconds. then Route 30 had the green for less then 15 seconds followed by East St with about 5 seconds.

To blame this issue on cell phone users is ludicrous. Watching the traffic in front of me while taking timing measurement drivers were not delaying trying to get through the light. To allow only 2 seconds between cars to trip the loop is asking for precision driving and we all know that will not happen.

This issue is far from being closed.

DID YOU READ THE LATEST GRAFTON NEWS? OMG - THE GURR FACILITY IS SCHEDULED TO HAVE A SOFT OPENING IN JANUARY 2017 WITH A PROJECTED FULL OPERATION SET FOR MARCH 2017..... MAN - DID THIS COME OUT OF NOWHERE - I AM AMAZED AT HOW GURR AND THEIR REPS SEEM TO WAIT TILL THE LAST POSSIBLE MINUTE TO INFORM OUR SELECTMEN OF WHAT IS TRULY HAPPENING BEHIND THE SCENES IN A HUSH HUSH MANNER..... TO TOP IT OFF - DID YOU SEE THE PROJECTED TRUCK TRAFFIC AND THE ROUTES THEY WILL BE USING ???? I traveled this intersection several times over the weekend and nothing has changed. In fact, one time I was the only vehicle at the stop line and when I got the green to go onto 140, the far traffic light on the other side of 140 went yellow right after I went over the RR tracks.

I am not sure why the town officials keep closing this issue when nothing has been resolved.

To go along with this "North Main Street Corridor" issue is the timing of the light traveling south where 140 and 122 meet. The timing during the afternoon rush hour is painfully long, probably the popular "80 seconds". Once the light turns green, anxious drivers race to see who can get in front of whom when the two lanes reduce down to one causing many near misses. I don't see why that intersection requires such a long wait time. There is not that much traffic traveling north on 122 at that time to necessitate a 80 second green for that route. I would like to see the afternoon timing at this intersection re-evaluated and adjusted accordingly. Thank you.

Nine months and nothing has changed, people are still cutting through the church parking lot to come up east st, or they are just avoiding coming up RT 30 altogether. The timing of the signal is still the same as reported last fall. The ambivalence should lead Grafton voters to rethink who they vote for in the next election cycle.
