It would help to know which block of Sparks you are referring to and where cars are turning across the lane to turn right.

The entire stretch of Sparks from Huron to Mt Auburn needs protection and has the space to do it quickly. Drivers chronically either park in the lane or veer into it. This is a route for me and my daughter as well. Drivers taking a right hand turn are especially an issue at the intersection with Brattle.

Yes, I have the same experience on a daily basis. Flex posts would be great, at least as a temporary measure, until it's determined if a protected bike lane is feasible. The bike lane should ideally be on the curb side with any parked cars closer to the car traffic. It seems like Sparks is still to be re-surfaced, so as you consider the Huron Ave. fix, let's make a network of protected bike lanes that take you from Huron down to the river. Just imagine how many families would take advantage of it, in addition to us brave commuters.

It is very dangerous for bikers (and cars) to turn left from Sparks to Brattle. What might be good options to help this situation? Additionally, many bikers ride the wrong way (north) on Sparks to get from Brattle or Craigie to Huron. This is because there other parallel streets are much steeper. Could there ever be a bike lane on the east side making a safe passage for bikers going North to Huron?

I encountered five trucks parked in this bike lane on Sparks the other day. I'd love to see a two-way protected lane here. There's enough space.

The City will shortly be implementing several protected bike lane demonstration projects to test flexible bollards and other treatments. As we explore additional locations to expand the protected bike lane network, we will take these recommendations under consideration.
