I called on Friday, and the gentleman I spoke with told me the mayor was on top of it, and if work didn't resume monday they would find a new contractor. Its wed, and nobody is here, so I suppose now we have to wait for them to rebid it. :(
I am also a resident of Thomas st, wee! I am also sick of the "work" that's not happening! This crew is lazy and rude! We were given a half days notice that they were going to pave the south side. I am a handicapped female and I cant walk to another st to park my car! They say they "have" to let you out , but they don't and when they do your waiting forever!! My daughter walks to and from school and there's NO where for her to walk, how safe is that?? I sure hope Mayor Bonde reads these. I think all the residents should stand out in the street and protest against this co!! This has been going on over six months now and they aren't even close to being done! I say FIRE this lazy co and hire one that knows what their doing!!! SICK OF IT!!!
To Anonymous: Thank you for your support, the name on the paper we recieved is- Great Lakes Crushing Ltd, but this is the second crew, I'm not sure who the first crew was. Either way they both have no business doing residentual areas!
The street is completely impassable at this point. They were supposed to reopen my half yesterday, but nobody ever came. The other half is so rutted that you can't drive down it without bottoming out the car. Im starting to think they are never going to come back.
The sidewalk that was just poured on the North side is ruined. They had to jackhammer two large sections to replace them because they let them dry before they smoothed it out. Only a select few areas are properly finished with the nice border and lines, and those areas came out awful because it was allowed to dry for too long before being finished. Most areas had the lines CUT with a saw because it was allowed to dry before being finished. These guys' work is comical at best.
I, too, found it comical that they had to rip out an entire street of sidewalk because they poured it too fast. I would think heads are rolling, but at the same time it is increasingly evident that this company does nothing to adjust to such mistakes. At the pace their going, it'll be weeks before they pour the other half of the aprons and sidewalks, and repair the gaping holes on the south half of the street.
finally finished aside from sod being laid in September. It is my opinion that the Mayor owes each and every resident a personal apology for the way this project was handled
from what I understand the Mayor said "maybe I'll throw everyone on Thomas st a block party when everything's finished." I hope he stays true to his word. That's the least the city could do! I guess time will tell.....
