Dear Road Commission,

If you see this request, why tell us to re-report it using your special form? Why not just fix the problem? I don't get why anyone from the RCOC would even make the above post. It basically says, "Yes, we're aware of the problem but we're not going to do anything about it unless you submit it with a TPS report coversheet in triplicate."

I live right nearby and I can verify that I've had cars nearly swerve into my lane to avoid those potholes. Anyone who really wants to see the problem, here's a google streetview of the problem. This really needs to be fixed. They're tried patching it about 3 years in a row now, but I think by now it should be rather obvious it isn't working.

Here are the answers to your questions:

The Road Commission is not able to monitor this site continuously. However, we do have a system in place where anyone can report a problem directly to us, and the information is then forwarded to the appropriate party within the Road Commission, and the process is tracked to ensure there is an appropriate response.

Also, through our system, we ensure we get all the necessary information so where there is a serious safety concern we have all the info needed to address it. Many times, info posted on this site is so vague as to be nearly useless.

Also, please keep in mind that we maintain nearly 3,000 miles of roadway, with a rapidly shrinking workforce and declining revenues (we now have fewerer employees than we have had at any time since the 1960s, while traffic and lane miles of roadway are substantially greater than they were at that time). We attempt to resolve all issues as quickly as possible, but the reality is we cannot address every single concern immediately in the way that every individual would like.
