While conducting a fire investigation at the above referenced property, a 3rd floor illegal apartment was discovered, and is currently occupied. At the time of the fire there were no operable smoke alarms in any dwelling unit. That has since been corrected and there are now operable smoke alarms where required.
Please follow up on the illegal 3rd floor dwelling unit. The first floor also has renovations currently going on with out permits.
The owner is very cooperative and is aware of the city agencies being notified. The FMD will be sending a abatement notice for the illegal 3rd dwelling unit.
