I notice a lot of drug use activity on the side of my residence. I don't see it nor do it allow loitering around my residence because of my children and my tenants family. What I do find when I am sweeping and tidying up the walk ways is evidence of use.. last night as me and my ten year old son were cleaning we can across a needle at the base of the steps of my backyard entrance. It is very hard to explain to a 10 year old why there is a needle on the street outside of a docs office or hospital. I am a firm believer in investing in my community. Instead of formally asking the city I decided to buy my own green garbage cans with bright orange chains to catch the eye of anyone who is about to litter. I have also brought a post to be able to put up a dog waste station, similar to what is installed in Lafayette park, to control the pet pollution left on the flower beds of the Van Cleef side. I am humbly asking for help from the city in efforts to clean up and beautify this area. there is a school less than 400' away and daycares in close proximity. no child should have to pass this type of litter in transit. More nightly patrols in this problem area. the residents need your help Jersey city. I want to avoid lying to my son about the reason their are needles in the street. thank you in advance.
