A temporary patch was applied, barricades are in place, but the LARGE sinkhole underneath spreads out several feet in each direction. this is dangerous - city inspector said it was the 2nd largest residential sinkhole he had ever seen. Requires excavation and backfill ... right now its like a jungle tiger trap - it will cave in with enough weight near the edge, and the barricade doesn't cover the danger zone. Lets avoid serious injury or death and get it fixed now - this is a major thru-route for school traffic, and twice "helpful" citizens have moved the barricades out of the road because it impedes traffic. Ft his dangerous sinkhole has NOT been fixed. It remains a huge cavity over 4' deep waiting to cave in and cause grave injury to the unlucky vehicle and occupants who trigger it. Acting director of street maintenance said it was waiting for FEMA funding. Do not close this dangerous issue ticket til actually repaired. A bag of ash phat and a temporary a frame caution sign is not a repair.

As of 5/1, the sinkhole has collapsed. There is now a 24" x 18" entrance to the huge underground cave.which is at least 4' deep in places (deeper than a broom handle could touch). Small children or animals could get in there, and an adult without a bulldozer would have trouble getting them out. This is VERY DANGEROUS and needs to be excavated, filled, and re-paved immediately. The estimated volume of the cavern/sinkhole is about 3 cubic yards - and erosion appears to be continuing to enlarge it with each rain.
