I am not sure what to do. I am aware of the noise ordinance for the city of raleigh which specifically states mufflers that do not effectlive reduce the sounds of explosion from a vehicle are illegal but this seems like a very popular hobby for many. I have called the police but i'm not sure exactly who keeps driving through the area with these unreasonable loud exhaust systems as they are many different kinds and it happens very frequently. This only really disturbs me at night, which happens every night, so there is nothing specific they can do. Especially on weekends at 2am when bars start closing, I hear dozens of these racers racing home, presumeably inebriated. I've even seen police officers directly next to and follow vehicles with extremely loud exhausts while doing nothing, yet I understand they may have better things to do however there is an ordinance against this and it is going unenforced.

Excessive and unreasonable noise is known to reduce quality of life and nearly destroys my entire quality of life. Moving away isn't a reasonable response either. Being considerate to neighbors and neighborhoods would be a more reasonable action rather than suggesting I just keep moving around until I find an area where neighbors are considerate, I fear I won't find one.

This is in the Longstreet and Mine Creek area and has become so frequent i'm sitting here at 11:30pm on a Sunday writing this issue complaint out of pure exasperation of having no other outlet, and I need to go to work tomorrow morning at 7am. Just to be clear, I do not hear normal traffic noises with people using manufacture rated exhaust systems.

I have run out of all constructive or effective outlets and my quality of life has degraded severaly enough that I am seriously having suicidal thoughts over this. I am thinking of using my shotgun to blow my @#$% head off at this point. In fact, I think that is what i'll do directly after this post if I hear another racer going up and down Longstreet tonight. I will be sure to make many posts online social forums specifically for this area, and leave a note citing exactly what is leading me to this. Maybe someone will get the point, probably not.
