The 2016-17 rainy season was the wettest on record. Though desperately needed, the tremendous precipitation caused significant erosion, making the lower trail of the Ed Taylor Loop unsafe for passage. The Parks and Recreation Department has contracted with The California Conservation Corps for many years to repair, maintain and improve trails in Mills Canyon. Because of the high demand for their services of trail maintenance throughout the State, the soonest we can engage their services is July. While there are numerous tasks to be undertaken in the maintenance of our canyon, building a bypass around the erosion area to make the lower trail passable will be priority number one. Thank You for your patience, while we work to resolve this matter.
