Note from Parks Maintenance: "We have discussed solutions for the depression – there is not much we can do but tear the carpet back 20 feet and fill in the hole – destroying the underlayment and carpet in the process. We also don’t know what is causing it, is there a ground flow issue? We will be in a better position to remedy whatever the underlying issue is when the field is closed for replacement.
Since it is out of the field of play and we are scheduled to redo the field in two months anyways – it is my opinion that the most effective course would be to wait for the new field to be installed.
