Description
The burlington parking lot with dollar tree and the pizzeria parking lot really needs to be redone with parking curbs and some stop signs and painted lines. So many people almost get hit just trying to walk to one of these stores from their car because the driving traffic is HORRIBLE. No way to direct where to drive and not drive and no crosswalks!!!!

its a 50/50 blame on this one. some of these people walking in front of cars SHOULD be hit because they dont care - they walk out in front of cars! i bet you if one of these idiots gets sent to albany med, they might think twice. and go ahead and try and sue .... you won't win!!!
as far as the vehicles go: yes, some people are idiot drivers - we all know that. but, people are trying to beat it to the light entering 9w. luckily, the light is controlled by sensors so you dont sit there an eternity or have 30 seconds to clear the intersection (like 9w/32 - east chester/flatbush ave).

This parking lot should be completely re-designed, I agree.
The problem stems from all the unnecessary extra driveways and wide open exits and entries of all the business parking lots onto 9W and Old Neighborhood Road. It's also partially because of the poor reconfiguration of the exit ramp from Route 209 east onto Route 9W south (the one with the stop sign) which didn't take this fact into account.
Drivers have uncontrolled access to this parking lot from all directions, and it creates havoc during peak usage times, with speeding drivers careening all over the place.
Old Neighborhood Road's current path should be closed, and should then be re-aligned so that it comes out at the traffic light at Wendy's at Frank Sottile Drive.
That way, all the businesses (Burlington, Staples etc...) can have their own proper parking lots (with curbs, landscaping, and shrubbery) and all traffic could safely enter and exit properly at one traffic light, rather than the chaotic mess occuring there now.

Well Mike, I completely agree with you there. And New York drivers are consistenly rated at the bottom 5 in the "Worst Drivers in the Country" surveys, so I know you're not just making this up.
They constantly weave between lanes, drift over the white and yellow lines, don't signal, have no idea what any of the road signs mean, have no concept of yielding the right of way, are constantly distracted and discourteous, etc... etc...
New York drivers just get in the car, turn the key, put it in drive, and floor the gas pedal, and have absolutely no consideration for anyone else on the road.

I mentioned this in another posting related to the same item -"There is a site plan that is going through the approval process that cleans this entire plaza up. It is a requirement as part of any further development of the plaza (the proposed new white castle is triggering it)." This includes a ton of curbing, lanage, and pedestrian access.

They're responding to the comments from these minutes still (updating stormwater plans I believe):
