Description
I have been a resident of Historic Kenwood for 9 years and have become highly disappointment of the city's lack of enforcement of their codes. This "home" is running a commercial gallery and leasing space to artists. There is constant parking issues and safety issues. The noise is very disruptive. Not only that they are in violation of the AEOD. This ordinance was enacted even though much of the neighborhood was against it. Myself and other neighborhoods only agreed with it because only the Historic Kenwood neighborhood artists were allowed to operate in our neighborhood. There have been complaints made to our President of the neighborhood Brenda Gordon who has neglected this issue. It has also been reported to Bob Jeffrey a former neighborhood President and one of the authors of the ordinance. Nothing has been done. It seems as though since these "residents" are members of the arts alliance and possible chamber of commerce that they can do anything they want. Myself and many neighborhoods feel this way and for the first time we have very little good to say about our neighborhood and the city officials. Please start living up to your own code and enforce this one. Thank you

Dear Anonymous User,
This is my home.
My name is Mitzi Gordon, I am 41 years old, and I live and work at 2800 1/2 2nd Ave N.
Based on the nature of your complaints, I fear you may be laboring under some misconceptions, which I am happy to help clarify. I also welcome you to come visit the property in person and learn more about us (by appointment, please).
As a freelance writer, I am here during the majority of every day working in almost total silence. We do not operate a commercial gallery here, and we do not host parties, play loud music, or otherwise conduct any unsafe activities.
We only welcome visitors by appointment. Only twice since moving into the property in February 2017 have we hosted one-night special events, and both times within guidelines set forth by the AEHK ordinance.
Our non-resident visitors are always informed that they must park on 1st Avenue North, where free street parking is ample, and not on Kenwood's residential streets or alleyways.
We are not members of the Chamber of Commerce or any other alliance.
Speaking for myself, I am seeking only to have a peaceful, safe space within which to work.
Everything I've heard from other neighbors indicates that we are a breath of fresh air coming after the previous tenants of this property. Come on down and see for yourself.
I can be reached at 813 263 8600 or via email at focusedphoto@gmail.com at your convenience.
Kindly,
Mitzi
