Jim: Thank you for your inquiry. The Town has used the chip seal process on our residential roadways for approximately 20 years and it has been a very effective roadway rehabilitation method during that time. While during the first few weeks there will be loose stones that will be swept up a few weeks after installation, once the process has been swept and had a chance to set (particularly over the winter), you won't know a difference in the roadway from an asphalt only topped roadway. thanks for the reply. i tried my best .somtimes change is good . but i guess you guys are set on this chip/seal. i am disappointed that many people in this neighborhood will feel the town is unresponsive to this request to leave the new roads smooth. framingham did a nice job on waverly street Rt.135 i don't think they used your chip/seal method,since the traveling public would be in an uproar with all that gravel. anyway, my personal thanks to the town and all the people involved in giving us beautiful new sidewalks and roads. a job will done. in case you change your minds, a know a great spot for all those chips on oak st. When will the chip seal process be done? Why do some streets have it and others, such as Burning Tree Rd, not?

Due to the the cold weather starting to be upon us, the chip seal of the roads will not take place until next year (most likely late spring) which is consistent with how we have done the chip seal in the past. Chip seal gets installed on more neighborhood type roads and not on the larger roads that get more traffic. The reason why the Chip Seal was not done on Burning Tree is because the road had to be dug down to the sub base due to geotechnical issues with the materials underneath which needed a more extensive rehabilitation process than the normal level, overlay and chip seal that the neighborhood roads received. In the future when Burning Tree gets to a point where additional rehabilitation is needed, it is very likely that it will be chip sealed like most of the other neighborhood roadways.
