I have referred this SeeClickFix action item to our Police Department and requested they have officers patrol this vicinity in both night and early morning hours. I also asked our homeless street outreach team to visit your neighborhood on a regular basis to offer their assistance to any homeless people they encounter. Thank you.

I just spent my morning bleaching my front stairs again ( I had to bleach them last week when someone Peed on them ), someone just puked on them and through more beer cans in my yard. I thought I was buying my dream home and it’s turning out to be my biggest nightmare.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Sorry this happened-no one should have to deal with this. I am sharing your latest comments with the Police Sergeant in charge of your area. We will stay on top of this until it is resolved. By the way, you do live in a dream home-a great location, very stylish and right in the middle of everything. We will get this resolved so you can truly enjoy your dream home. I feel sorry for this person too. Homeless people and others are sleeping and drinking all over this block. And have been for years. Every time we're told that the police will make an effort to patrol the area, there is no improvement. In fact it just gets worse. Yesterday someone was passed out on the sidewalk down by the University Publix and was there for a long time. Last week I saw a man @#$% in the parking lot and no one did anything. The area between 6th Street and 7th Street on 3rd Ave South has an abandoned parking lot behind a row of townhouses with overgrown trees and piles of storm debris and cardboard mats that are used for sleeping. There are beer cans strewn about. Sometimes I see people sleeping in the space between the fence and the trees here. Up on 7th Street there are groups of men who regularly drink and sit on the stone walls nearby then move off to the building across from the new Publix. I'm surprised they aren't asked to leave but few people seem to care about the vagrants and litter in our neighborhood. Who would want to rent one of these expensive units and then have to deal with that type of problem? Someone yesterday asked me if they could have some of my groceries that I bought at Publix. Others ask often for bus fare or panhandle or sleep on that ugly new bench on 3rd Ave South, or camp out and smoke there all day. There is a lady who seems to be living in a bus stop on 1st Ave South and 6th Street. Some of the small bungalows behind the Viridian look like they're abandoned with broken windows and garbage. One house on 3rd Avenue South across from the Viridian has not been mowed in months. This used to be a nice neighborhood before these new apartment buildings were put up and our sidewalks taken away and houses boarded up so owners can sit on them instead of maintaining them. Now it's a free-for-all zone.

Thank you for providing additional information about the issues involving the homeless in your neighborhood, as well as the abandoned properties behind and across the street from the Viridian. I have shared them with the Police and our Code Enforcement Department. We have police officers checking this area during both daytime and evening hours. I have asked our Code Enforcement Department to send a Code Enforcement Officer out to inspect the properties you reported. Thank you for alerting us to these issues. We will continue working on them until they are resolved.

Thank you for the response! I posted that comment last week but because of the @&$# word it was delayed. Looks like someone has started to repair the broken windows in that empty house. Things are looking up. :)

I did see a police presence early this morning, It’s greatly appreciated.
I can’t figure out why littering is such a big problem, came home from work today to find another three beer cans and a empty liquor bottle in my front yard.

Hopefully we can get this neighborhood under control, thank you so much for your help.:)

Thank you for your comments about the police presence this morning. The two police Sergeants in charge of your neighborhood are committed to resolving these issues. I will share your message with them. We will keep working on this until it is resolved. Agree with your comments about the litter, it is unsightly and detracts from our neighborhoods, but I think we will see an improvement once we get the issues involving transients under control. free phones free bikes free food free clothes free sleeping in public free to do whatever with no resistance free million dollar social programs free housing free every thing rewarding criminal behavior!!! while tax payers work from 8 to 5 to fund these useless programs . Meanwhile neighborhoods now are crime hot spots home values are dropping like a rock rewarded for negative !!!! and encourage negative behavior !!!!!! sad state of affair's shame on you city council open your eyes stop squandering tax payers dollars issue needs to be resolved not encouraged

The City of St Petersburg periodically reviews past reports that are made from citizens within our city limits, and in an effort to clean-up old issues that were resolved some time ago, we are marking as 'closed' those issues that were submitted in the past for which the work has been completed or the issue has otherwise been resolved.
