It would be helpful to get a specific address or the cross streets - The description says East of Polk, but the map marker is mid-block in the block bounded by California, Scott, Pine and Pierce - Which is well west of Polk St. I think if we get better location information we can get some action on this problem.

I believe I said at California, east of Polk. That generally means a little east of Polk, like 1/4 block east of Polk on California. If it's wrong on the computer map, that's because computer maps suck. Also, it is behind "Out of the Closet," which is at Calif. and Polk.
But I just want to know if it's illegal to have the sign in the traffic lane.

Rose - Now we have good information - a specific location. This is a little out of my neighborhood - but try contacting DPT enforcement at 415-553-1631, or simpler, call 311. 311 monitors this, so they may respond now.

I called 311 about a week ago. They said this was illegal and referred me to the non-emergency police number. I called them, and the dispatcher said she would have an officer go by and talk to them. But the situation still has not changed. The sign is still in the traffic lane.
