  This summer a couple new (bad) trends have started in the park, with cars. First, there have been lots of parties(good) and the people drive into the park to set up (ok). But now people are just parking there the whole day, including on the grass (bad). And now, much worse, cars have taken to doing donuts inside the park! The picture doesn’t show well, but there are tire tracks all around the center of the park. Last time I saw it, it was in the middle of the day, while there were other people in there! It’s a heavily used park, lots of kids, this is crazy and very dangerous! I looked, and the gate can be locked to keep our cars but still allow people on 11th ave

  The gate has been locked on the 10th Street side for the last few days, maybe a more permanent solution could be a removable lockable pole coming out of the ground in the middle of the gate entrance? That way people could still use the gate (people with accessibility issues, mother's with strollers, kids with bikes) but vehicles wouldn't be able to get through unless they are maintenance and have the key to remove the pole. Any other ideas?

  I’m sorry, I don’t know why this got attached to your post.
  But anyway, I don’t think the gates should be locked in general, as the city is very inconsistent about the schedule.
  But I think exactly the same about the 11th ave gate that could be locked to exclude vehicular traffic only (unless authorized).
