Thanks for your question, short-term delivery parking is a challenge in the downtown.

In the longer term, we're proposing a parking study for the downtown in the next couple of years - we recognize that as the City gets busier, parking becomes a bigger issue for businesses, employees and customers.

We may need to do a survey of businesses in the downtown regarding deliveries; to see if there are patterns of when they normally get deliveries, what size of truck is used, and how they currently manage. Thanks for raising this issue.

Might be a good idea to send out reminder letters to downtown businesses and employers to make sure their employees are not parking on the street while at work ( because it's rampant ). ALSO the city parking lot on 1st street is often full ( possibly accounting for some of the employee street parking ) and often impossible to navigate in the winter months due to there not be some rule that vehicles must be moved to allow for plowing it out. Residents of houses behind the lot also use this for parking their vehicles. This all adds to the already impossible parking conditions downtown. Not sure why the parking study hasn't already begun considering even in shoulder season it's usually a challenge ( except for on weekends when there is no or little snow and everyone has gone out of town shopping ). The lack of parking is a HUGE topic of discussion when folks get together. The city has gone to great lengths to try to direct traffic downtown ( including being part of the reason downtown businesses put the kibosh on the mall on the highway fearful it would claim some of the traffic ). BUT, there is already nowhere to park !!! These things just aren't thought through very well !!!
