Description
So far during the storm we have had a total of 10 cars either parked, abandoned, or stuck on East, State, and Mechanic. Yet I keep hearing countless complaints that X's street isn't being plowed, or Y's power is out, z cant get to work...etc...
Please understand that anyone who tries to traverse these streets by car is only exacerbating the problem, I personally have seen far too many people have to turn around because the road ahead is blocked by either snow or another vehicle, yet everyone seems to believe they are entitled not only to have THEIR street plowed, but as soon as it is to be out and about getting stuck and clogging up the streets so that no one can get through, especially the plows and emergency vehicles that need to.
Be patient, stay home if you can, and if you can't know where you are going and what roads are clear ahead of time. Every time someone gets stuck, they are blocking the way through for a plow that is very likely on its way to clear your path.

Great commentary, and you very clearly state the obvious.
There are way too many "it's all about me" residents out there who cause the problems and then expect everyone else to take the blame and carry the load.

Jane, the comment was meant for those residing in East Rock, hence the tag. Also, to clear up any notions of preferential treatment, which I feel were at the very least hinted at in your reply, there are PLENTY of streets in east rock that still have not been cleared, as of the writing of my "plea" there were even more. Our street was untouched by plow until early this morning and it is a vein off a pretty major artery (rte 5). I just spent most of my afternoon digging out because the people parked on the wrong side of the street hadn't moved when they were given adequate warning to do so.
I think you were missing my point when I posted this. Which was that getting out and being on the road, regardless of whether your street has been plowed or not is not smart when the possibility of being stuck is fairly great. Its selfish and counterproductive. As far as having or not having plows, one should not "assume," because your assumption, in this case is wrong.
