we have the same problem on atwater street in front of 121 gathers a crowd which is usually the same crowd that encourages the street racing and the bike stunts, they have sneakers hanging on the wires. police drive by daily and nothing

These hoops in our neighborhood are causing problems, not helping them. Some of the people who play are completely ambivalent about cars that need to get through and look at you as though they dare you to try to get through, it's very intimidating. They are not calming traffic, they are impeding it. They are also not considerate about the noise late into the night.

Maria, I have had the same issues with 120 / 121Atwater. It's so bad at time i choose to go around the black then pass thru them.

yes john doe and its the same group of people that add to the street racing, they are all friends. now wheere or who do we contact to get that hoop removed? we pay high enough taxes for playgrounds in the city, there is no need for this just another excuse to hang out and sell drugs

Mr. Alderman, are you reading these comments? why dont you stop making friends and hanging out drunk driving and getting away with it and do something for our street.

oh, no one says it will but it is a step into the right dirrection, when there is no one on the streets and a hoodrat comes with his rotary wanting to show off to their friends 9 out of 10 he wont becz theres no one there to show off to. selling drugs sure it will continue always but its easier to sell to someone you know while everyone is out there and not look as suspicious thats all. remember people around here know each other, grew up together and went to school together so they wanna hold on to ghetto mentality hanging on porches, burning out, being loud not respecting quality of life issues that those of us who actually have a life respect

It's not about stopping them from abusing drugs. As a 30 year home owner with an interest in my neighborhood. It's about the way or neighborhood is seen by us and other's who travel thru.

Last 4th of July the entire street was litter with spent fireworks from these guys. I'm guessing this year will bring the same with all the noise also.

Just maybe if band togetter and have a plan this year, maybe we can cut it down some. I'm no leader but would being willing to help if anyone has any ideas.

Maybe the way for good people in New Haven to take back there city is 1 or 2 blocks at a time.

on the corner of atwater and chatham the same crowd gathers every yr fourth of july and throw a bigger display than most places let again by the people on 152 atwater. mind u there are overly grown trees, power lines, people sitting on porches. this is illegal and unsafe anyone can get hurt and i can be a child looking out of a window. again potential dangers that these people obviously are to immature to take serious

I put in a request to Traffic and Parking regarding the shoes on wire at 121 Atwater Street.

Also it is to my understanding the illegal bulk trash was picked up by Rowe.

That sounds exactly how my family celebrated the 4th of July when I was growing up (my neighbors also had a hoop in the street, where my younger brother and I still play). The only difference was that we would have to wake up on the 5th and go out with push brooms, 5-gallon buckets, and plastic bags picking up all of the debris from the night before. You could see the marks on the street for months afterward.
