No status change with garbage strewn across sidewalk. Just now saw a pedestrian having to walk toward incoming traffic to avoid stepping in trash.

Hello - I think this request was closed because some of the trash is also on Calteans property. But the underpass of the highway on Hollis Street is also completely blocked, as are portions of the bike path. The garbage itself is really foul. Requesting oakland city services not to close this request before fixing the Oakland public area illegal dumping part..

Just drove past this hot mess this morning. Please do clean up ASAP. The freeway exist ramp with the tents is also a mess.

This remains really filthy. I also saw other separate requests for this illegal dumping.

This side walk becomes more and and unusable. For anyone who has to cross this twice a day to get anywhere - it’s a safety issue also. I saw joggers step into the traffic lanes to get around the trash. Please do clean up.

Both sides of street unusable at this point. Now there are mattresses on the west side and east side sidewalk is completely covered from the freeway offramp half way down the underpass on Hollis.

Still all there. And slowly decaying and growing. It is highly unsafe now. Please clean.

This is still open. And getting worse and worse. @city of Oakland: you must address this. On an ongoing basis. Or give me back some of my property taxes and I will hire someone to get it done. Unacceptable

It has now been a month since this post. Why is it not being addressed? My guess is that the city is waiting for a solution to the unsanctioned homeless encampment in this area. But this delay (without any explanation) is really penalizing the residents of this neighborhood. We can't use the sidewalks. Its unsanitary and now unsafe also. Please clean this very very unsafe and dirty area..

yeah its a mess down there, I cannot barely drive thru without running over garbage in the street. Mayor Shaaf is doing NOTHING. We need to contact our local district reps and have THEM pressure the council to clean these messes up. Or vote them OUT.

there is no good excuse for not cleaning it up, except that we don't have enough high powered lawyers living in West Oakland who would be suing the city for abandoning our neighborhood and allowing sidewalks to become impaassable and a public health hazard

I just spoke with a person at the city call center. The reason this area is not being cleaned is because all this trash and hazardous stuff has been noted as part of the homeless encampment close by. Clean up of a homeless encampment can only occur after it has been reviewed by a Homeless Encampment Task Force. This task force prioritizes the inspection of encampments based on size, biohazards and criminal activity. Nothing will be removed or acted upon till they have reviewed this encampment. However, if there is criminal activity or fire hazard you should call the OPD and fire dept respectively.
SO:
- PLEASE OPEN A NEW SERVICE REQUEST.
- MARK IT A HOMELESS ENCAMPMENT ISSUE
- ADD AS MUCH DETAIL OF SIZE, BIOHAZARDS etc as you can
- For criminal activity or firehazard - call OPD or the fire dept.
Finally - if you want to know if the task force has looked at this area yet, or if it is listed in their biweekly clean-up list call 510-615-5566. Currently it is not.
I hope that I have propagated this information correctly and that it is useful.
