Thank you for contacting the City. I appreciate your concern, however, we cannot take complaints as it hasn't been 24 hours since the snow stopped falling. City code allows 24 hours after the snow stopped falling for snow and ice removal, and since it started snowing again, we cannot take complaints until that time.
If the property owner hasn’t shoveled after that 24-hour period (after the snow stopped falling), please let us know. Thank you.
City Code 113.02 states the owner or occupant of any building or lot abutting a public sidewalk is responsible for and shall remove any accumulation of snow and/or ice from said public sidewalk within twenty-four (24) hours after the snow and/or ice has ceased to fall, gather or accumulate. The cleared area must be the full length and width of the sidewalk and sidewalk ramps must be cleared to the street. If the walk is covered with ice, please salt and sand as needed.
This concern predates last nights' snow. All winter the sidewalk has not been shoveled to the pavement, the alleyway has not been shoveled to the pavement. It is very dangerous to try and walk past Arby's.
1. The City does not require the sidewalk to be shoveled to the pavement. 2. The "clock" essentially starts over with a snow event, although a letter has been be sent to Arby's.
