This has also been a problem during the past 2 months on Central near Fountain.

More shattered glass this morning on Central Ave at the top of the hill (from Fountain), and also more glass in the Webster Bank parking lot this morning, right in front of the security cameras. This area of Westville seems to be part of the thief's regular rounds. Could the police check the cameras at Webster? Could Webster or Delaney's post signs telling patrons to not leave valuables in vehicles? Lack of opportunity could be a deterrence for the thief. Could police cruisers pass through the area a few times a night? We want Westville Village to be a healthy and safe area that attracts businesses and patrons, but if cars get broken into regularly it damages the image of the city and of area. Of course, this is a citywide problem, as we know, but sadly this area of Westville seems to now be a regular target.

unfortunately cops were too busy breaking up fights between drunk college students from out of town

We are aware of this and currently investigating. We have a walking beat out there during the day and 7pm-3am during many weekend nights. They are leaving fliers on cars to make people aware not to leave valuables visible and also to patrol the lot for the suspects responsible.
