We were made aware of the issue a few months ago. Since this is the only route out of the subdivision for the residents for many residents, we have been waiting for the new subdivision to the east to be completed and give residents another way out of the subdivision. Once those roads have been opened, we can completely close Heritage Brook Drive for a short time and make the needed repairs. Because the manhole has continued to sink, we have added a steel plate over it so motorists can safely pass over the area of the street until the proper repairs can be made.
Thank you for reporting this. We will continue to monitor this situation.
There is now another sinkhole that has formed nearby. Do we know when the other roads might be accessible? It is getting so bad we might be inflicting damage to our vehicles.
What is the status of this issue? The other roads for the new Maple Ridge development are connected, the development now connects into the established Knox Creek subdivision through the new Maple Ridge development.
Update: Weather Permitting, next Wednesday, January 16th, the contractor plans to fix the pothole in the street. The completion of the work may take more than one day. In the meantime, Public Works will place asphalt down to smooth the hole until the contractor can come out to fix this pothole.
They are planning to close Heritage Brook Drive on the 16th.
One of the reasons for delaying the repair of the sewer manhole and the road was to allow for a closure of the road. We have directed the contractor not to close the road before 8:30 am, and we have asked that they have at least one passable lane by 3:30 pm. During the time that Heritage Brook Drive is closed, you will be able to get in and out of the back of Heritage Brook through the new phase of Maple Ridge via the Bordeaux or Knox Creek subdivisions and Balch Road.
We do realize the road was not fixed on the 16th. Our Public Works crews placed asphalt where the road sunk to provide less of a dip to cross until permanent repairs could be made. The date in our previous post should have said January 23rd. And with the rain forecast for tomorrow, the closure and repair of the manhole and road are now scheduled to take place on Friday, January, 25th. The road will be closed while the manhole in the road is repaired, and it is planned to have at least one lane opened by 3:30pm.
Thank you for your patience while working with the parties to have these repairs made.
I believe that the street will need more than a one day repair. There was a river in that area before the construction. It has caused structural damage to a nearby home. In my construction experience, I think it will need a drainage system and compacted fill.
