The stop sign is there for safety reasons, I would like to see you go through and obtain a moving violation. Traffic uses the road as a cut through to avoid the main roads. It is there to slow them down. Families and children also reside along the road. If you cannot drive civilly perhaps you should not be driving at all.
Perhaps you should consider another route as an alternative as it seems you are the stereotypical road rage person who will not obey posted traffic signs/and or signals.
I have taken horses along that rode, people drive around to curves what to fast! I think the stop signs are great, It slows them down around the blind curve.
I run by this sharp curve once a week and observe the memorial flowers laid there. The stop sign is there because someone got killed. Sorry for the inconvenience.
The memorial flowers are there because a motorcyclist down-shifted to stop at the sign and lost control of his bike and hit a telephone pole.
Most people don't completely stop at the sign, and when they do, the drivers behind are taken by surprise. It's a bit of a mess, because the road was designed poorly, with too sharp a curve.
There are cops who take advantage of the rolling stops and hand out tickets even though anyone with common sense can see that they slowed down enough to safely navigate the curve.
There's another dumb stop sign at Weber road and Curtis lane.
J: what year is it, 1856? Don't ride your horse on the road. Use one of the many very nice trails we have locally.
As another person mentioned, this is a misuse of a stop sign. The purpose of a stop sign is to control traffic at an intersection of 2 or more roads, not control speeding where there is no intersection.
By this wacky logic that it's there to control speeders, some people probably think it's a good idea to install a stop sign on every road about every 2000-3000 feet.
If the turn is too sharp, widen it. If speeders are a problem, have the lazy police do their job and enforce the law.
Forcing every driver to come to a complete stop where it's perfectly safe to go around the curve at 15mph is completely asinine.
Billy Bob you obviously have no clue as to the intent and purpose of the stop sign. If you feel the police are lazy I would offer you to apply to become a law enforcement officer to 'do the job' you accuse them of not being able to do. If you cannot drive safely all of you then perhaps you should walk. Horses deserve as much right on local roads as do joggers, bicyclists, and motorists. Be respectful, quit whining like a bunch of spoiled little brats. Live with it, the stop sign is there stop or get a citation. End of story.
Billy Bob, obviously you do not pay attention to your surroundings. Did you not notice there are 2 farms on each side of the road? One happens to be a rather large horse farm. Logical is exactly right. How is riding my horse any different than riding my bike? I follow the traffic rules. Maybe you should as well.
Sorry, but I do have a clue. This sign is an illegal use of a traffic control device and should be removed.
Section 2B.04.05 (page 50 of the 2009 version) of the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices produced by the National Highway Administration states that: "Yield or Stop Signs Should not be used for Speed Control"
Each state is required to use the guide as the standard for local traffic control legislation. Reference: US Code Title 23, Chapter 3, Section 315 and PA Title 75 Part V Chapter 61 Sub-chapter B Section 6121
PA Title 75 gives municipalities specific powers to regulate traffic. This includes 75.V.61.B.6109.a.6 - "...designating any highway or junction of roadways as a stop or yield intersection or junction" Notice it doesn't say anything about allowing the use of a stop sign along a road where it does not intersect with another.
No law that I can find authorizes a municipality to utilize a stop sign as a speed control device. If you can find one, please cite it and I'll stand corrected.
Also, please take note that nowhere was I whining about not being able to speed. I stand by my statement earlier that the turn can be safely navigated at 15mph.
The stop sign should be removed and the standard turn warning sign with a 15mph restriction should be installed.
I think its very ironic that a stop sign is at this location but you go up the road to where there is a blind curve at Schultz & Weber Rds, and there is NO stop sign for Schultz merging into Weber. They need this stop sign at that location.
Actually Weber merges into Shultz. Weber ends there. What I find saddening is that apparently there is no such place as a "back road" where you can travel, walk, run or bike free of traffic of a highway. Shultz seems pretty out of the way compared to the surrounding area.
Sorry but Weber does not "end" there. Weber bears to the left (blind curve at Schultz) and continues down to Skippack Pike. As to bike riders, you are required to observe the rules of road, basically like a car. But do they? Next issue will be registration and liability. Some riders and walkers, too, seem to have the "death" wish syndrome.
And there way a stop sign added on Weber Rd @ Cirtis Ln. for the purpose of speed control. And someone got killed around the bend further down the road, so now the speed limit on the road is 15 mph. If enough people get killed, it may be faster walking or riding a horse if this is what happens when a few people are being stupid.
That stop sign is there so that people at least slow down to take that sharp curve property. Someone was killed at that curve. I use that road frequently because I live in the immediate area and even with that stop sign, I have almost been hit several times by cars taking that turn too fast.
