This sign was removed by the state when the road was paved

This was addressed once before, and I had also emailed th city and got a similar response as is listed below. :
"There is no longer a painted cross walk across Grattan St. between Mary St. and Rivest Ct. This was not repainted when the paving project was finished. Many school students cross at that spot, and there is a crossing guard assigned for the elementary students. However any middle school or high school students who need to cross there do not even have the benefit of the cross walk any more. The crossing guard does not start until 8:00am, when the students are already in class. This is a busy street, and is a really safety hazard, as student will be walking at dawn when it is hard for drivers to see anyway. I would like to see the crosswalk repainted, and maybe a caution sign to alert drivers to watch for pedestrians."

with the response being:
"Thank you for contacting the City. The area in question does not have handicap ramps to allow a crosswalk through Grattan St. Painting one 'mid-block' as it is referred to would violate the Americans with Disabilities Act. I realize there used to be one at this location. It was in violation of ADA, and should not have been painted in the first instance. I understand your concern, and will speak to the School Dept. transportation manager about posting the crossing guard at the next legal crosswalk, which is a very short distance up Grattan St, outside of the Lucky Strike and ALden CU. This crosswalk has ramps and good driver sight distance, and is thus much safer."
