The Summit City Council changed the rates due to non-resident commuters as well as downtown employees parking all day in the DeForest Shopper Lots all day which ultimately reduces the number of available spaces for shoppers. Through analyzing the duration of stay reports for over two years, the majority of shoppers/visitors utilize the lots under 5 hours. For 2018, we have seen the number of vehicles using short-term parking increase by 22% with a decrease in long-term parking.
The new fees are posted on the large entrance signs in each of the shopper lots on DeForest Avenue. In addition, there are sandwich boards at each entrance letting the public know about the over 5-hour fee.
Feel free to contact me directly at 908-522-5100.
