Description
When the apartment building at Washington Place and Rhode Island Ave NE was built they covered a storm drain in the corner of the Home Depot parking lot with dirt, right by the building. This was never repaired and during heavy rain the parking lot floods down the hillside (DC property). This results in significant erosion and sediment deposits in the ally and on private property, and creates several problems. First, people still continue to walk down the hillside which is increasingly dangerous. Second, home owners on 10th St need to actively put down sand bags or shovel sediment to prevent flood damage. This issue needs to be addressed ASAP by the city and responsible property owners, who will be held liable for damages caused by the change in drainage and diversion of water on to private property.
