Ivan, my Sunday posts did not go through. Sorry about that. The graffiti in front of the bakery has had additional scratches added so it just looks like vandalism, not gang graffiti. The sidewalk graffiti in front of the new ATM is still there as of this morning (Wednesday, 6/5). Maybe the bank will do something about it before the grand opening. Maybe not.

Thank you Paco for the information you provided. This makes my point that ticket #13-00271710 was closed without appropriate response or action. Are you commenting in an official capacity or as a concerned citizen?

I am tired of opening issues which the City just closes without making a repair or taking other appropriate action. I plan on discussing this with the Alderwoman at my next convenient opportunity.

I'm posting as a disgusted resident. More and more louts are moving into the neighborhood and I'm now wondering if it isn't time to move out. I can't keep the parkway and sidewalk in front of my home clean because so many people who park here think these are the perfect places to dump bottles, cans, food garbage, and paper waste. The new Devon streetscape represents an attempt to strengthen business by encouraging night life, which will generate even more garbage and noise. The area east of Western is no man's land, and the area between Western and California is getting worse by the day. It took 6 months last year to get an alley light repaired. I'm tired of hearing that there's no money or that the city is short-staffed, especially considering that the taxpayers fund every parade and neighborhood fest--paying most of the clean-up and security costs. Ordinary citizens get little in terms of city services.

Paco, I am with you all the way except for the part about throwing in the towel. Our ward and city needs more upstanding citizens like you. Please do not leave.

The city council needs to be held accountable for what they do and for what they refuse to do. We have nepotism running rampant in the council and they think the citizens have nothing to say about anything. It is time to cut their salaries in half and to allow for recall of anyone not doing their job.

SeeClickFix is a farce as the city feels it is OK to close open issues without actually doing anthing other that acknowledging receipt and closing issues. I for one insist on keeping issues open until action is taken and reported by the authorities. They work for us and we should not let them think otherwise.

You are right. It seems hopeless at times, but the only way to be heard is to keep talking. I've been walking around taking photos of poor street repairs, broken curbs, enormous potholes, etc. I hope to finish this week and then start uploading these photos with addresses. The City pays tens of millions for personal injuries to people who are hurt just walking down the street, yet there's never any money for proper street repairs. As I write this, the street is being torn up for the third time this summer. If it's not for water work it's for gas lines or electrical lines. No one ever sweeps up afterwards, and you can barely cross the street for all the rocks and gravel.

I am still waiting! It has only been six months since this issue was posted.

It has been a year and still no resolution to the grafitti, garbage, and lack of accountability of our public offricials. A woman driving West on Arthur near Whipple last Saturday, ended up in the emergency room because of unmarked and unrepaired hazrds.

This has been reported to the Alderwoman with no sign of action. The hazard is still there and no one is working on marking or eliminationg the manhole cover which is sticking out above the pavement.
